It’s fun to do things you enjoy, like watch your favorite TV show, practice a hobby, chase a dream, play your favorite games, or even your work. However, be careful lest those things begin to have control over you.

In 1 Corinthians 6:12, the apostle Paul says: “All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.” So while we have free will and everything is permissible for us, not everything is beneficial, nor should we be controlled by anything.

When something that you enjoy doing becomes something that you are driven to do, it may have control over you. This means that you’ve given up your ability to choose what is best. It’s important to only have one Master — God — and to make sure He comes first in everything you do.

“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24 KJV)
