I know people who seem to be in a constant battle for control. They want control in their jobs, their marriage, their health, their finances, everything…they believe that if they just had control over these things they would be FREE. But control is an illusion.
This urge to control goes all the way back to Eden when Adam and Eve desired to “be like God,” in other words, to be in control. The result of their decision to disobey God has led to all of mankind now struggling with this desire to “control…” and the problem is that some of us have even convinced ourselves that we have it! The downside of this delusion is that we begin to feel that everything is in our hands, on our shoulders, and in our power. And this delusion causes mankind’s need for a Savior to increasingly wane.
God’s design is to control our path; yes, he gave us free will, but we are supposed to be Spirit led. The TRUTH is that when we accept that we have no true control and we give Him the control, that’s when we are truly FREE and can delight in His ways. The battle we have been fighting finally goes away and we no longer have to have power because God is in control. This TRUTH brings such a sense of peace to our lives knowing we are in the hands of our loving Father.
