Wow! Why is this so hard…

“Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.” (Ephesians 4:29 KJV)

Do you ever say something and instantly want to pull the words back in? You know that one of the hardest things to control is the tongue. I find that I have to be mindful and thoughtful of my words before speaking. My dad always said… “Think before you speak” it was a discipline in my home when I was growing up.

These days it seems less and less that we consider the impact of our words on others, the tone of our responses, and the intent behind our messages.

Here’s a positive challenge: let every word you say today be good, and let it focus on uplifting and edifying others.

  1. The foot in mouth disease, I have been working on most of my life, and will continue to do .
    Don’t know if I will get it right. I will continue to listen to the Holy Spirit for guidance.

  2. “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” That was my mom’s frequent admonishment to my sister and to me. 🙂
