Imagine you got a new job at Microsoft. And out of the blue, Bill Gates walks into your office and says, “I’ve seen the work you do and this job is all wrong for you. I have substantial plans for you in this totally different department. I know that you are comfortable now and this may be intimidating, but I believe you can do it. I promise your life will be more fulfilling than you could ever imagine!! But you’ve got to get up right now, follow me to this new place.” Would you go?
Of course you would!
The bitter truth is that we would trust Bill Gates without hesitancy. But most of us don’t trust God with the same offer. God has a purpose for each and every one of us. We have a calling from Him. He is our lamppost in the darkness. Have you been listening to His calling? Are you following Him? Do you know what He has for you? Are you using your gifts and talents for Him?
The world has a way of side tracking us. We aren’t here to follow “our dreams,” even though that’s what we’ve been taught since we were little kids. The fact is that we were created to follow our calling, which only comes from God.
“Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. For our heart shall rejoice in him, because we have trusted in his holy name. Let thy mercy, O Lord, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.” Psalms 33:20-22 KJV
How true! This is so in grained that we have the right to go after our dreams…and to dream big! It takes so much to retrain our expectations and put them back where they should have been to began with. How many of us are out of place…not even close to what Gods purpose for us may be?
